the other day i read an article about “drone-proof” cities and was intrigued by the concept. much like a past post about the Gardens by the Bay, inspiration for fantastical virtual world landscapes can come from the real world
in virtual worlds, it’s not uncommon to find post-apocalyptic and steampunk inspired regions. maybe drones will usher in a new dystopian style?
covered walkways, underground tunnels, lots of trees plus elements such as heat generators (to confuse drones reading body temperature) and reflective windows all come together to create drone-proof environments
even tall towers, which make it difficult for drones to fly low during targetted attacks, are a part of this literally new landscape
in some ways, it’s sad to think in these terms, but unlike post-apocalyptic or steampunk inspiration, drones are real and will become more and more commonplace in civilian use

Funny, i was just reading about teeny, tiny 3-pound drones they are considering in Oakland. Those are stirring up a ruckus among residents.
You are right I think, drones are here to stay regardless of whether people object, because their objections are always too quiet and sedate.

nope, no write-offs – they need to fund the tiny drone programme! =D

it’s a cool concept that allows for something like 4 motors to fail yet still be able to fly – we just need to connect up a flux capacitor and be all set! =)
