Or is it… “Virtual Dreams and Lucid Worlds” ?
Do you find that being in a Open Sim world like Reaction Grid, or Second Life, to be like a waking dream?
Have you ever dreamed about your avatar? Have you ever had a lucid dream? Or has a virtual world at least influenced your dream? Some peeps report having dreams of flying more often after being in SL, for example.
Can virtual worlds — or maybe even violent video games — help one cope with nightmares, or even with real life?

Check out this article from GameSpy: http://www.gamespy.com/articles/109/1093219p1.html

On the flip side: Building & scripting in virtual worlds is a way to shape an idea or vision into reality. If you’ve limited yourself to shopping, clubbing, and socializing, you are missing out on the fun of creation… and it might also spill over into your dreams (for better or worse!)
Now, if you find yourself dreaming that you are a blue-haired “furry” of the alternate sex… I’ll leave that to you to analyze. ;p

a blue balled furry? i don’t understand *feints that my frenchie brain is clueless* =D

I agree, building in virtual worlds can help you shape your dreams. I think social actiities can be creative to an extent. But they do rely on others and can have an impact on you.
I think that is what affected Botgirl and the death of the digital persona – a dependence on others for your creative outlet.
Ener is happy to build alone and has always been able to be self-entertained.

well, second life and now reaction grid for sure factor into my rl dreams
but a really neat thing is that i can focus on a project i would like to do in-world while i fall to sleep and that is a big help, plus someone in a virtual world told me to hang up my troubles at night and that has helped me dream nicely too
you could say they may even walk in my dreams from time to time =)

Awwww! And someone with a pink parasol has given me better dreams… and showed me (thank goodness) long ago that there is more to virtual worlds than shopping and clubbing. Where would I be without her?

sleep deeply and well,
virtual denizens…
dream a dream
of immortality
or flight
between distant
burning
stars
or, if thou darest,
of perfect love.
be bold and worry not,
for the pixels
of the soul
are beautiful
perfect light

Nice article and I felt it it to be a step up from many of the other entries on the site.
