Linden Lab Research Update – Slowing Growth

i check in with SharesPost on occasion to see how they are currently valuing Linden Lab’s private capital stock. lately it’s been pretty flat but i missed a may 16th “Research Update” (probably because i haven’t looked in the last two weeks) =p the research report is created by Candlestick Advisors who also evaluates companies like [...]

Linden Lab’s value drops again, but maybe it’s a good sign

last thursday i posted about a 2% decline in Linden Lab’s capital index by SharesPost and mentioned that Linden Lab doesn’t seem to fluctuate much or doesn’t get analysed that often by SharesPost. i checked it today and was surprised to see it dropped again – albeit, by a very tiny amount (0.04% or 2.22% [...]

Linden Lab cap index drops 2%

i check on the the venture capital index for Linden Lab from time to time as one measure of the Lab’s success. LL affects OpenSim, especially for viewers, and will be the virtual world leader for some time to come the index has been pretty flat for the six months since they had an 8% [...]

Linden Lab venture backed index stays steady

Sharespost evaluates various companies and places a value on their private shares. companies like Facebook, Twitter, Etsy, LinkedIn, and even Linden Lab are monitored and their share values are updated private shares, similar to public shares, see their values go up and down for many reasons. at the end of the day it’s all about [...]

Linden Lab VC index drops nearly 8%

hmm, maybe Rod should have stated The fact that Second Life still enjoys that growth is stunning. in a more assertive manner rather than being somewhat blasée! *oops* the index had been at $338 million until today . . . if this a response to the global economy, just head over to the OpenSim side [...]

Linden Lab Venture Backed Index

one comment

it’s been two month’s since i looked in on the Sharespost data for Linden Lab and it has stayed at a constant level in that time this index has limited value (no pun intended) for measuring the overall health of Linden Lab but it does make up one of many indicators reflecting the perceived well [...]

Linden Lab VC JUMPS 45%

SharesPost needs to work on the way it displays data! i check it regularly and as of Saturday it was still at the same spot it had been for a few months – $232 million today, it shows Linden Lab’s venture backed index at $338 million with a 0% week to week change o_O that’s the kind [...]

more VC-index growth for LL

leave a comment

as you know, i obsess, err, keep an eye on Linden’s venture capital index because what happens to LL typically has an impact on OpenSim. even if that change does not mean new features, it can mean a change in mainstream perception Sharespost had not posted any updates for months and finally did last week. [...]

measuring Linden Lab’s success

how do you measure the success Linden Lab has? is it mesh import? the latest 2.x viewer? concurrency? amount of land? all are good measures and meaningful to varying levels for different people here is how the venture-backed index done by sharespost has looked over the last year

how about that? appointing a new CEO, especially one that is incredibly qualified, seems to agree with the bean counters SharesPost shows an increase in the venture-backed index for Linden Lab which is a welcome change from the huge decline this year. it still is a long way from where it started off this year [...]

Linden Lab venture-backed index drops back down

the venture-backed index for Linden Lab by SharesPost dropped down to close to what it was before the Microsoft buyout rumour. in the SharesPost message board there is a comment about the 11% drop in user hours the user hour drop is significant and regardless of other factors, is indicative of customer use (derr) =p Mitch [...]

Linden Lab cap index climbs

LL sees a jump of over 13% on their venture backed index! they must be doing cartwheels at the lab but if you don’t put much credibility in this number, then it won’t mean much to you to me, all of these bits and pieces are what create mainstream perception, so a positive thing like [...]

does SharesPost mean anything?

i have blogged a few times oh the “value” of Linden Lab in SharesPost but what does that number mean? this is not like trading a public company’s stock so how can you tell what it means? first off, since there are several companies listed, you can use those as barometers. it’s interesting to see that LL [...]
