last October i wrote about a creative use of sim-on-a-stick as an art catalogue. Beacara, the creator of the concept, was overwhelmed by requests and not only ran out of the OpenSim loaded USB sticks but the town hosting the art event did too!
Beacara now has a video of her art catalogue on a stick (below) and the art is great but i think her different builds to display the art are very nicely done and also easy for a total noob to understand and move through. very well done Beacara! =)
she sent me some notes regarding the video:
Do you recognize the Palm house created by Vanish from OpenSim Creations? It is a good example how helpful it is not to have to build EVERYTHING yourself. I just changed some parts inside.
The person at the end after the end :-) is not me but one of my students who assisted during the presentation.
The building with the exhibition of Liselotte Krieg is one of the Gropius-Masterhouses. It was a project I started with my students (and finished alone, just to have a kind of showcase – the video). When I find the time to rebuild the Bauhaus exhibition, I’ll make an .OAR for free download, might be nice for education.
excellent work and innovative use of modern media to create what is traditionally a very expensive paper catalogue (and you are being green too). the Bauhaus build would be an excellent addition as an OAR download, it is a lovely build (btw, i don’t often use capital letters because i follow early bauhaus philosophy regarding typography)
thanks Beacara and your machinima is also very nice! =)

What a wonderful presentation of art and use of Opensim!
Much enjoyed.

i would like that oar too. i have a lot of pics but i like the way it is done with themes or artists. i have some “statues” in mesh which i could include too.
yesterday i play with remote client on my kindle fire and it was so-so. i could show everquest and sl. but the idea is there and if i could build a cam-bot it could show various parts. it wouldnt be as good as video, but its a start. i would rather have a streaming video on my server with switchable cams maybe using darwin to do that. i think darwin is still free. or maybe have darwin on my android (the emulator of course).
i am waiting for android 4.0 to be out for a tablet then i can begin..whoops i have no money. back to the emulator then.

wait a minute! you were able to pull up SL on a Kindle!!!! o_O
how are so many people so much smarter than me! gee, i am such a dope!
that’s pretty good briste, so that’s on the Kindle Fire i assume? if so, Amazon heavily tweaked Android on it so it may not be as robust as the current “real” android release

yes, the kindle fire isnt android 100% but i hope in 4.0 maybe they will be. so far the ones that are doing it is this year will be out by june (which means october). i love forcasting.
you guys are the ones that got me started with this. i am not wild about doing it for all the graphics, vworlds, etc and doing it all in java, even a thin layer. but i am will to explore what i can have in several servers on rhw pc. since opensim is video steaming out, something can catch it and munge on it a little or a lot. it doesnt have to be a user client. then put the buttons on the android so it looks like you are commanding it.
you are in a command structure looking at a cam-bot, something like this:

two things:
1. the video need to be loaded. there is some strange message when you bring it up. but it is alright to go on and load it.
2. the == rhw
there are eqivalent. but rhw is shorter.

Excellent work, Beacara! I like the goat of the min: 2:40, the integration of some paintings in the landscape and the shanti-art zone, among others.
Nice example of a good practice of Opensim, I saw some art galleries made using Unity3D, only less the avatar and the human element is the most interesting part of the visitor’s experience.

it really is a showcase example of what can be done with OpenSim – i certainly hope that Diva Canto (Crista Lopes) sees this post because it’s all her that makes this possible)
maybe we all should tweet her: https://twitter.com/#!/divacanto
