call me silly, but i have been cleaning up our regions in Reaction Grid this week. it will just all be wiped out on the fourth with probably one command and anyone would see my time as wasted
maybe it’s a spiritual thing (do avatars have spirits?) or an ener-getic thing or just a bonkers thing?
to me it is about treating my things with respect. i can’t just leave my work behind, it is important to me. even though i have an identical copy of all 16 sims on our new private SimHost grid
even the terrain! i had to return it to a more neutral state just to pay homage to my past effort (see, i am bonkers)
fortunately, it does not matter very much if anyone else thinks this is crazy
it’s part of who i am and in a weird way a part of my creativity and persistence. sure, in the few hours i have spent doing this, i could have spent adding to its identical copy on our new grid
or could i?
see, for me it’s part of the same story, the same narrative - my story. if i did not do this, it would affect my new builds. crazy as that sounds
Reaction Grid has been very good to me. i learned so much about OpenSim and am thankful to the Reaction Grid Team. especially Chris and Felix. their caring and attention was evident even as avatars. i am not sure i even met Chris as an avatar, although i did make her a strawberry daiquiri in a coconut shell (ener’s version of a Linden bear). i met Felix and he is a really neat person (good luck in your studies Felix!) =)
cleaning up the sims is like the last paragraph in this chapter. there is still a sentence or two (hint: Dream Walker, get your stuff or it’ll be poofed and same for the Learning Path Nikki – you don’t need to grab it if you don’t want to, just giving you another day or two in case you do)
so as our Reaction Grid estate disappears into the virtual ethers i look forward to it’s continued growth with SimHost

It’s time for me to say goodbye to EnerCity Easton. I can no longer pay the monthly cost to keep it running. That and I’m being badgered for spending money on SL, go figure, it’s my money but my dad thinks he’s in charge of my finances.

i’m going to funkytown! and are you in Inworldz also??? if so, how do you like it?
we have a private grid with SimHost. i maxed out our resources in Reaction Grid and have been having a tough time with being visible and with autoreturn stuff. 6 or 7 people get emails 3 times a day with stuff being returned over and over again and that has been going on for two months!
i also really, really need groups and with OpenSim 0.7.1 we have groups and we have media on a prim too (we will get OpenSim version updates sooner if we want them, i don’t mind funkyness on the bleeding edge while we get completed)
so for actually about $15 less a month i have 5 times the RAM and double the cores (and 20 times the disk space!)
and we have some custom server stuff that my subQuark will be using in the future (i have no idea what all the crap is, i am just a happy go lucky builder with a sugar daddy! =p
James Stallings II has been awesome in doing custom server work (like making it so we can burst to 4 GB RAM per sim if need be). he is a knowledgeable and 100% into OpenSim (he codes and is an admin for OSGrid), his SimHost partner is Adam Frisby who is like the lead OpenSim developer and they host they welcome sims in OSGrid – that is pretty cool
so i am sad to leave Reaction Grid, it’s got some good people on there and at least 6 sims were purchased from people talking to me, so i feel okay with that
but i am just a hypergrid away (well, when 0.7.1 becomes mainstream) =)
keep making your outrageously beautiful geometric builds!

wow, sorry to hear that, but $300 a month is a lot! you are pretty techy, maybe do OpenSim on your own box?
there are more and more decent OpenSim options coming online every month. i like what i see so far with SimHost. but even $190 or so is a lot, but they do have a nice single sim for $70 – but an OpenSim sim is not as powerful as a Second Life sim
good luck and you can always come back to this later, just export all your builds – i think of you often ya know (i really do, i am uber sentimental and sappy) =)
oh, make sure to sell it for a good price, don’t be a dope, make a few hundred if you can =)

Yes Ener, I know how you feel about cleaning before you go. I did the same thing. Maybe it is a feng shui thing :-)…I hope you will find what you are seeking for. I did start a personal grid maaaaany month ago and you can not feel any more free. I guess you have more visitors in your blog to show and tell what you do In your new “home”. Than actual visitors there.

hey you understand me! (i just got massive goose bumps!)
feng shui is a good way to put it. lol, i guess i need to do a post to what we are doing! we are already on another grid and very happy
that is so cool that you did your own grid! =)
i suppose you can have a visitor or two from what i have read about running your own home grid
i bet you felt like a big weight was lifted from your shoulders when you first stepped foot on your 100% yours grid!
i have so much respect for you being able to do that – no small task!
thank you for sharing your feelings (knowing that lots of people will roll their eyes – funny, rolling their eyes should help them see a bigger picture of the world) =D
now don’t get me started on Dreamtime and Nobel Laureate Physicists searching for God . . .

Am I ever gonna see you again? I was hoping to get in after finals next week to hang out, but I guess you will be gone by then. I will hop on tonight to get my things out of your way. Much love E!

well you have to take care of rl first! i should have gotten out a few months earlier than i did but you do what you think is best at the time
you have gained valuable experience (worthy to place on your resume imo)
and seriously, you are plenty sharp enough to maybe look at running your own grid with OpenSim – i mean like a commercial grid!
why not? InWorldz are just regular people =)
do good and give a shout out every now and then!!!
