i like having LimitDragDistance and LimitSelectDistance both set to false. that way i can drag stuff across regions and select stuff as far as the eye can see (accuracy of said select depends on amount of Red Bull and coffee (in mathematical terms: x(red + joe) = oops, where x is excess!) =D
at times this leads to surprises later (or holy crap, there should be ctrl-z for this!)
i popped into my home region to change concrete textures (i am ever on the hunt for the perfect concrete, i hope this is the one! my Neo of concrete!) and . . .
well big derr on me, when i was working on the airport in the region next door and retexturing metal grates, i guess i selected one more thing than i had intended!
what “oh crap!” moments have you had and how well do you handle them?
btw, happy friday! =)

Like when I’m tidying loose parts on the grass, and I quickly go
Edit space click click click
right click more
delete
And pouf! goes the big building just behind them. Oops. Big empty space. A click too far.
Or I only think I’ve clicked “Select faces to texture” and it does all of them.
How do I handle it ? Utter terrible oath. Bang head on desk.
The better solution, remember to lock things I’m not using, and of course, take frequent copies. Name things sensibly so I can find them in the trash can and put them back. Otherwise more blanketty blank language sorting through a pile of things all called “primitive”.
But sometimes you just have to and accept that you do it all again.
Undo button ? Oh yes please !!!!!

Double oops, lost some characters, that should’ve been

Geez, tons. Like Keith, deleted whole buildings. Like you, Ener, retextured all sorts of things. Also, drag-shifted half a region of objects. That one was a b**ch trying to find and delete every last duplicated prim and object (you’ve seen the counts of objects and prims I have :-P)
Btw, that “grated” tree looks pretty cool. Add some particle effects and it’d make a great light fountain :-D

way back in SL, people were falling thru their floors all over and they would freak out because when they came to my place they walked on the floor! It’s because I learned VERY early (like in my first week) never to link my floors to my buildings – I accidentally delete floors way too often for that!

The most panic inducing thing I had happen was having my home disappear. I was swapping one additional plot of land for another and my prim allowance went under the limit. Poof went the house! The building was gone but all the furnishings, pictures, etc. were still in place. Once I realized I could just put it back I calmed down and took pictures. It looked very surreal.
Earlier I had learned to put the coordinates of my buildings in the object’s description which makes it easy to put them back in place.

I think it looks interesting. It sort of reminds me of one of those aluminum Christmas trees.

How many earth-like planets are you finding with that thing?

I think she’s using it to focus plasma beams to take out SL spysats, DreamWalker. Doing a good job of it too. LL still hasn’t got a clue :-D

I don’t know what that is but it’d make for an awesome water fountain! Add in the glowing alien water, of course, so it’ll feel right at home ;-)
Off to find your scripting thread because i have a question ;-)

*grin – I think your concrete-antenna there is tuned to the Araxie channel ;) I’ve had plenty of these moments as of late (getting better though). I try to make frequent backups in case I turn a castle baby blue, move everything a little to the left, have to chase down a run- away vehicle script that is eating cpu like pie- that kinda thing.
