life imitates art – mechanical forest

i like trees in virtual worlds and i’d like better trees than i have. i tried making trees but only ever made one that i halfway like and it’s the main tree in Enclave Harbour

i even offered to pay Kriss Lehmann for full copy trees that would only be placed on our grid – we probably would have paid as much as $100 USD

well, maybe my obsession with trees has come to an end!

Singapore has spent like $250 million on creating mechanical trees and there is something cool about them – Gardens by the Bay

check out the video below and read this article for more info (or inspiration)

  1. This is wonderful and shows that if the real world can break from “realism”, then we certainly can in virtual worlds.

The argument that virtual worlds need to be more realistic simply doesn’t hold water.

Animated movies and Farmwille prove that point and now reality, as in these gardens, show that people are able to deal with non-photorealistic environments.

  3. go for it bristle! i’m thinking of doing one on the stick, just as a fun “me” project – i don’t think i’ll have houses you can enter, more like an architects model of a city

if you make one, i’d love to blog about it! =)

  6. i was hoping no one would notice the fact that i have soas and osgrid or i can do it with diva. the last time i made models was a hundred years ago with the floating city.

you know i want everything handed to me. i am an only child. but the idea of static structures so that they can be glue together is an interesting idea.
