i don’t like Apple, but i love their new campus

it’s not that i hate Apple, i’ve just never been a fan and have grown up with PCs

however, from a virtual world perspective, i love the design for their new office campus! it totally looks like something you’d easily build in OpenSim. it’s inspired by the iPod wheel and has a neat looking courtyard space (that looks huge!)

i’m not sure how practical of a design it is as far as humans moving through the space (seems like a long way to make a full circle inside – but great exercise!). maybe they have pneumatic tubes underground to shuttle people back and forth, or a zillion Segways, but i really like the look of it and their vision of a lot of grass and trees  =)

  1. no, it a model, nothing else. first, there is no parking anywhere. that would work. that make the same mistake at our latest shopping mall.

the greenry would last long. we have many years of dry season. they would do bettter with algae tubes and an HQ-center on the inside with branches, probably monotube to the outside.

i didnt see any solar panels. isnt apple suppose to be conservation about our natural environment?

personal transporters. you need it to go anywhere. and the 4-level design is a carryover for earthquake proof. we have much taller buildings in san francisco.

if you look at the apple buildings now, they have parking lots surrounding the buildings.

  2. Nah, there’s LOADS of parking there if you follow the second link, click the Site and Landscaping link in the linkset on the cupertino page, there’s parking.

  3. i bet it’s a long walk if you have to hoof it through the parking lot to get to the far side of the building!

i like the monorail idea =)

  4. hehee I like that idea too! But the plans seem to include one section of the main building that is 4 stories of nothing but parking..i think it said 4300 parking stalls. Still, the Segway idea could be fun too!

  5. i think they will have a circular monorail, go round and round. the same way as airports. it could work.

the solar panels and algae tubes could really make a place that is 22nd century.

  7. I wonder if they’ll only have bagels, doughnuts, and other round foods?
