is that $4,500 thing for 11 and a half hours still going on in Second Life? the MotD dealio?
that is some serious scratch for sure! and i know that a few people had done it (must be nice to have that kind of cash in your pocket!) =)
brilliant me now has my own screen too! actually, it had nothing to do with me, our Micheil showed me how he filled out his grid manager and i tried it too
i spazzed out when i rebooted and saw that the viewer showed our domain!
all it does it point to a URL and dang if Linden Lab was not smart to charge so much for a simple text message!!! for $4,500 you should have gotten an image and more real estate! especially for less than half a day!
well more power to LL if they still sell that space!
for a school or business, that URL could be anything including a Google calendar
that makes me think of doing things like setting hours for different activities. you could post times when your private grid is reserved or meeting announcements or even place tutorials right there! links on that URL are clickable, so the possibilities are endless. shoot, you could place advertising on it (oh yeah, that’s what the MotD was, derr – i haz a short attention span!) =D
just another reason that a private OpenSim grid is shaping up to be a wise and flexible choice for educators and business use

Here is a link to the wiki page on the GridInfo service. The GridInfo service can be used to enable the ‘Get Grid Info’ button on the Grid Manager fill in the grid information.

And for v0.7, here is an example definition for iliveisl. According to the doc, it would go in StandaloneCommon.ini for standalone grids or Robust.ini for HyperGrids.
