how to make a telehub with spawn points

depending on what your sim or world is, be it your home, a club, an art gallery, or what have you, you may want guests to arrive at a certain point (x, y, and z coordinate)

you can create a single landing place (Landing Point) but if you ever have more than one person arriving at the same time, they’ll end up standing on someone’s head!

telehubs with spawn points are kind of like the way the beamer thing in Star Trek works – several people can land in your sim and be spread out rather than on top of each other. seeing that services like Kitely have such high prim limits, there’s no reason not to have spawn points

creating a landing area where several people can arrive simultaneously is very easy and is a nice finishing touch to your work

first turn off Allow Direct Teleport (World > Region/Estate > Estate) and then rez out a prim which you will set to phantom and probably want to make fully transparent when you are done. the prim can be any shape and i just used a default cube in my example below

now right-click and edit the prim that will be your telehub and, with it remaining actively edited, go to World > Region/Estate > Estate and click Manage Telehub and the click Connect Telehub and a set of yellow axis lines will appear signifying that it is now the telehub for your region (only one telehub per region)

to add spawns (the places were others that are teleporting in at the same time will appear) just rez out new prims, in this case i used default spheres. click and edit one of your “spawns” and click Add Spawn and you’ll see its coordinates appear in the Telehub panel and it will have a set of orange axes. keep doing this for as many spawn points as you have

once you are done, close all the panels and set your prims to however you’d like them (such as phantom and transparent)

the telehub and the spawn prims should be above ground level because their registration points are where the avatars will appear. this means that you can have avatars teleport to any height, you aren’t limited to ground level – this example could just as easily have been a rooftop)

  2. i remember when there would be big grid crashes inSL and you’d get TP’d to a sim with a zillion people and you’d end up standing on people’s heads

  3. I had that experience of being diverted and piled in with lots of other grey bodies tumbled up together and untangling. Such new technology, and already we have nostalgia.
