Hax Nuit – one step closer in Kitely

Hax Nuit has moved from Sim-on-a-Stick development to finishing touches in Kitely. it’s a neat feeling to bring something from SoaS with Simona Stick to being in Kitely with Ener Hax

i’m hoping to open Hackers Sleepless City to the public by Christmas

it’s been just over a month but there are as many prims in the one region Hax Nuit as there are in the two year, 16 region Enclave Harbour! about 34,000 prims in each =)

performance notes – when i loaded the OAR on Kitely, the performance of it was significantly better than running it as a Sim-on-a-Stick deployment on my laptop. my laptop isn’t a super machine but it does have a dedicated NVidia card and 4 gig of RAM. SoaS on the laptop has the whole thing to handle – the server side and viewer side but i would expect that to even out with Kitely since that has ping time from the remote server connection and is throttled by my wifi router

on the laptop i was only getting about 12 frames per second but on Kitely, i was getting 20 to 24 – that’s noticeable! not only that, but i thought that many of my textures were corrupt on SoaS – even after 15 minutes they never fully rezzed in and were unusable. i figured they got hosed and i’d need to reload them but . . . that same OAR was totally fine on Kitely and the textures were instantly fully rezzed (and i breathed a sigh of relief!) =)

i also wanted to compare my new “big” machine to see how the SoaS version of Hax Nuit compared with the Kitely one. for this i cranked Imprudence 1.3.2 to the ultra graphics setting with 4x antialias. the big machine is USB 3.0 so it should perform very well. it ran much, much better than the laptop and i was getting 55 to 82 frames per second. then i fired it up on Kitely – it took about a minute and 4 seconds from hitting the “Enter World” button to be logged in and the frame rates were between 52 and 69 fps!

to me, that’s outstanding performance and i continue to be very happy with being on Kitely (i really like the privacy controls and history information too) – well done Ilan and Oren! =)

    We’ve put a lot of effort into building our own cloud-based inventory and asset systems (that replace the regular OpenSim inventory and assets services). We’re happy to see that our efforts have paid off and that the improvements we’ve made have resulted in noticeable improvements to usability.
