can’t touch this!

i always knew i’d be number one some day. hard work, determination, persistence, and gratitude, . . .

i’d like to thank all the little people, but i can’t – my nose is held up too high and i am looking to the stars! *sigh, it’s hard to be the best*

what a load eh? well, if you know me, then you know i am pretty much a hermit. it’s just that i blab alot (i don’t even need anyone around, i can keep myself amused for days)

i think it’s kind of funny to be the head of Crap Mariner‘s twitter list! maybe i get a prize or something

talking about numbers, i have been trying to catch up to Torley in flickr for years (fat chance, he has like 23,000 pics up) o_O

i mentioned this the other day but got no comments, i figure someone must know about why

Torley no longer posts as Torley Linden, but as his old name of Torley Olmstead on flickr

looks like he made the last Linden upload on September 2nd. i hope they don’t get rid of Torley, i think a good number of residents would have a fit and leave SL in protest

btw – suck it Prok! =p *signed your mindless and witless friend*

edit – ZOMG! EPredator Potato! what an awesome name!

Of all the Lindens, Torley was the most public facing. And he enabled people to create things, for which they felt empowered. People think of him very fondly.

I have 5 words to say about that.

    Human Resource Risk and Contingency.

Either he has shifted to a more corporatized role in Linden Labs or he is being allowed to follow his dreams and drift off.

We know he has been doing more backend stuff in Linden Labs, doing documentation for Viewer 2.0, and less of his “Friendly Greetings” videos.

We also see he has been rather inactive in his hallmark Torley roll, and more involved with his outside music interests.

Managed carefully, core staff can be exited without causing a bump.

Corporate role or exit. Place you bets.

  2. Torley is the one who inspired me to build inSL. He is also the inspiration for my parasol – symbolic of the joy i find in virtual worlds. i am forever indebted to Torley =)

  3. Friendly Greetings…Some days I get sooo close to pressing that signup button on other Virtual World Websites…. everyone has a tipping never knows when they will reach theirs until it happens. They Better Keep Torley.

  4. well, as long as Second Life is meeting your needs, there is no need to change. for me it just became to hard and time consuming to run the estate. and now we are doing educationally focused work geared to middle school kids

you bring up a great point about accounts – it 100% blows to recreate your avatar, let alone not have most of your stuff, for other worlds. that’s why we decided to get setup for eventual access to OSGrid. that way one OSGrid account will work for us and 100’s of other regions and several grids

the longer you wait, the clearer the other choices will be =)
