the Corsair Survivor is still the official sim-on-a-stick stick and i had the chance to test out a brand new 32 gig one. they look identical and the 32 gig is at Amazon for $38 USD (suggested list is $49.99). that’s a great price considering that the 16 gig one was $37 last october
so getting down to the speed test – both are USB 3.0 and both are being used on USB 2.0 boxes – is the bigger one any faster, slower, or the same?
the big one is actually a tiny bit slower overall!
i suppose that has to do with it simply being a bigger space and it taking longer to get from one end to the other. is it a speed difference you would ever notice? lol, i don’t even think an OCD spaz like me could ever notice this minuscule diff!
now that i’ve been using the Survivor for 6 months i can report that i still love it. its funky and uber geeky size is what i like about it (yes, i did get picked on at school). now if anyone picks on me, i can clobber them with this mongo USB stick! plus it would be hard to lose it, if it fell off my keychain it would either hurt my toes or i’d trip over it! =D
should you get this stick?
nah, not unless your existing one broke, got lost, or was dropped out of a plane and fell into 600 foot deep water. the Survivor can withstand a G-force of 40 Gs and is waterproof to 200 metres – that will probably handle anything you build in OpenSim! =)

Love the little Ener-bots! :-D Bet they’d make great NPCs :-D

lol on the basement Sarge! and ya know, if you did, so what? people love to label and it’s a natural thing because it’s much easier for us to place things, and people, into neat categories
maybe that’s one thing being challenged with the concept of avatars )

Yes, we do love to label, pigeon-hole, categorize the world around us. Its part of what makes us human. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Its one of the tools we use to make sense of the world. The problems arise when people believe that the label IS the thing. Or the person.
And I agree, the metaverse is challenging those concepts. Unfortunately, its not doing so with the right people. Its the closed minded and unimaginative that tend to hold to the ‘defining by label’ of others. The people living in the metaverse tend to be quite the opposite. Not all, we do have our bigots and haters. But not as much as I’ve seen elsewhere.
