if you run Diva’s built-in Update function (as mentioned in yesterday’s post), you’ll see instructions to go read the release notes text file
for me, the release notes run together as a single line when i view them in Notepad and it is easier to read them online here
Diva has added a TOS page that you can deploy if you are running her D2 as a home world with hypergridding enabled. the TOS functionality is a great addition because you can have people read and accept your terms before they arrive in your world (maybe something like “i agree not to eat cheetos and then touch all your stuff”) =p
since SoaS is not intended to be open to anyone else, there’s no need to worry about setting up any TOS
i’ll probably follow all her instructions for the SoaS updates i put online, but for those of you doing the update yourself (Soas-DIY), i think it’s probably okay to not make any changes at all – just run the update and you should be fine (i haven’t tested that)
apart from the addition of being able to display a TOS page, Diva has also added group functionality. for a single-user standalone deployment of SoaS, groups don’t matter but if you wanted to do that part of the release note instructions, here ya go
go to \SoaS075\diva-r22043\bin\config-include\MyWorld.ini and then find the “Login Service” section and add the bolded line in that you see below:
[LoginService]
WelcomeMessage = “Welcome to simonastick!”
GatekeeperURI = “http://127.0.0.1:9100″
SRV_HomeURI = “http://127.0.0.1:9100″
SRV_InventoryServerURI = “http://127.0.0.1:9100″
SRV_AssetServerURI = “http://127.0.0.1:9100″
SRV_FriendsServerURI = “http://127.0.0.1:9100″
SRV_IMServerURI = “http://127.0.0.1:9100″
SRV_GroupsServerURI = “http://127.0.0.1:9100″
;; For Viewer 2
MapTileURL = “http://127.0.0.1:9100/”
[GatekeeperService]
ExternalName = “http://127.0.0.1:9100″
if you like, you can also change your welcome message while you are doing this!
happy St. Valentine’s Day and Simona Stick wants to know if you’ll be her Valentine! =)

I’m a little confused -I thought that one of the things that was added to the new Diva distro was profile support. However, I tried to make a profile for myself after upgrading and the profile text wasn’t saved.
I’m wondering if there was a database change or something made between versions which means you can’t get profiles without doing a clean install -or if I simply forgot to take a step that I needed to take (I added the line about groups you wrote about, btw).

hmm, the only info i know is in her release notes text as far as specifics, however, she does talk about more on her blog
http://metaverseink.com/blog/?p=534
i see she mentions three things: Groups, Offline IMs, and TOSs but don’t see any mention of profiles
is that maybe something mentioned regarding the general release of OpenSim?

I just read that and it looks like “profile support” exists only in my pointy lil head. :(
Maybe next release! :D
